Requirements:

iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch must have iOS 4.2 or later
An Apple ID is required to download from the iBookstore
Automatic bookmark syncing requires an active Wi-Fi or cellular data connection and an Apple ID
iBooks opens books made with iBooks Author, ePub books, or PDF documents
To add books from outside the iBookstore, they must be DRM-free and synced using iTunes 9.2 or later. To sync books made with iBooks Author, they must be synced with iTunes 10.5.3 or later.
iBooks textbooks can only be viewed on iPad and are currently available to customers in the United States
Some PDF documents may not be compatible with iBooks

What's New in Version 2.1.1

iBooks 2.1.1 addresses an issue which prompted you to sign-in with your Apple ID at unexpected times. If you experienced this issue, please open iBooks after updating. 

This version also contains minor stability and performance improvements.

Good app, needs features (4 stars)
I'd like this app so much better if it gave you the option to rename items you've opened (like PDF files) so that the first page isn't all you see (and can't read!).

Audio (4 stars)
The app is great, but if for any of these books there were an audio file that could be played at the moment of reading it would be so much better

Pdf's won't open!!!! (1 star)
HELP!!!!

I updated iBooks on my iPad and now my pdf's show up for one second and disappear. Worked great before the upgrade. I need this to work as before. I use it heavily in my work. I did not update on my iPhone and iBooks works as always.
