REAL-TIME MOTION TRACKING
As you hold your phone up and point it towards the sky, Star Walk 2 follows your motions using the built-in gyroscope to match the map on your screen to the stars seen from your location. Easily find any star, constellation, or satellite in the sky by tapping Search. Star Walk will indicate the direction to look in.

NEW POINT OF VIEW
Unlike on a plain photograph, every star in Star Walk 2 has coordinates. That means you can look at objects, for instance, a constellation from any vantage point in space, not to mention the ultimate accuracy of your map for your exact location.

Star Walk 2 gives you accurate daily data on current moon phase, time of sunset and sunrise, and elevation of planets. With just one slide you can see how the sky will look later tonight or throughout the year.

Is it worth it? (5 stars)
I had Star Walk 1, and when a new app came out I was suspicious that this is just a money grabbing scheme (like the Omni group does with the Omnifocus app). I haven't noticed a major difference except for the 3D, but the graphics are VASTLY improved if that is even possible because I used to be so infatuated with the old app's graphics. For a redesign like this I don't think the price is outrageous. However what does irk me is you now need t

I own at least six other astronomy apps that I have collected over the years, and each one has it's own special features that make it "better" than the others.

This app has it all wrapped up into one (rather large) app. I say "rather large" because it gets huge when you install the add-on packages. I opted for the $1.99 add-on for all of the additional features. For $1.99, it's definitely worth it.
