Description

Designed to be used in the confessional, this app is the perfect aid for every penitent. With a personalized examination of conscience for each user, password protected profiles, and a step-by-step guide to the sacrament, this app invites Catholics to prayerfully prepare for and participate in the Rite of Penance. Individuals who have been away from the sacrament for some time will find Confession: A Roman Catholic App to be a useful and inviting tool.

The text of this app was developed in collaboration with Rev. Thomas G. Weinandy, OFM, Executive Director of the Secretariat for Doctrine and Pastoral Practices of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and Rev. Dan Scheidt, pastor of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka, IN. The app received an imprimatur from Bishop Kevin C. Rhodes of the Diocese of Fort Wayne South Bend. It is the first known imprimatur to be given for an iPhone/iPad app.

Lay examination needs to be more robust (3 stars)
I found with my login as a married woman, all questions were geared to the 10 commandments. By making an "alter ego" as a religious, I got a much better examination which focused more on living holiness rather than just "bumping into the commandments". I hope future versions take into consideration that holiness is not just for priests and nuns. The application is easy to use and the screen problems with the earlier ver

Does not replace the sacrament, but a good guide for preparation (5 stars)
At first there were doubts considering the personal nature of Confession. After seeing the application and noting the way it works and how its administered, I see that it was designed as a dignified and respectful examination of conscience. It does not replace actual confession but I can recommend it as a good tool to be used in preparation for the sacrament. Also it can serve as a resource for teachers of Confirmation, RCIA and those Cat

Too much for priest! (5 stars)
I used this app for confession last Saturday. Confessions are usually only heard for 30 minutes by a single priest at my church. I was so thorough that I took about 25 minutes and there was a line. Oops! The priest suggested I confess only the most serious sins and be a little more brief. I guess that's a good thing. Anyway, the app worked excellently!
