Description

This application is a multilingual Japanese dictionary for iPhone and iPod touch devices. The dictionary files are embedded in the application so that the dictionary service is available at all times with no additional cost.

Kotoba! was created using the amazing JMdict files from the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group based on the work of Jim Breen on the EDICT project.

Use the Japanese keyboard to look-up words in kana/kanji.
You may use the excellent Traditional Chinese character recognition keyboard for on-screen drawing of Kanjis.
Look-up in ramaji is as well supported.

This application is 100MB+ large, installation over ITunes/Wifi is recommended.

The best Japanese dictionary on iPhone. Hands down (5 stars)
Well, what can I say. I have attended universities for most of my life. For years I have found international students with devices that cost up to $500-$600 that don't do a fraction of what kotoba does as a Japanese dictionary. I can't believe it's free

V2.8 brings conjugations, an and welcome addition. All we have left to beg for is an iPad version :)
A very dear special thanks to the author for making this available to the wor

Must Have App (5 stars)
This is one of my most used apps. You can search in English, but also by romaji, kana, or even radicals for Kanji! The recent addition of looking up conjugated verbs is another great feature. The amount of vocabulary is incredible, with many examples for context. Perfect for looking up a word quickly, learning brushstroke order, and much more.

Now very fast in iOS 5.

Wow, this is free? (5 stars)
I can't say into words how useful this app is for my Japanese learning! I'm really happy with the update as well, now it's even better!
