Golf Putting a real time golf putting analysis and visualization tool. It can be used to measure and represent your stroke types and stroke tempo.

The setup is easier. The extra tool you need is an arm band. The instruction can be found from video and screenshots.

This app uses your iPhone/iPod Touch's accelerometer sensor and gyroscope sensor to capture the real time data of a single putting stoke, presents with graph plot with x, y and z axiss. Even though the most important data for measuring your tempo is the data in X - axis and, the most important data for measuring your putting type (straight, slight curved and strong curved) is the Z-axis data.

The purpose of this app is to understand the putting stoke in a quantitative way. Ideally, a nice and smooth putting stroke will generate a smooth accelerating curve when doing the back stroke, and a smooth accelerating curve when doing the forward stroke. When you see the curve plot is not smooth as you expect, there might be some room to improve. Meanwhile, some people use the straight putting style, such as me. My mentor, Randy Petric (won one of Champions Tour in 1997), uses the arc stroke type. Whatever we use, we have to make sure strokes are consistent. So stroke type graph will present this data to you about your style. Also we know we are total wrong if we flip club head when we putt a ball. The curve will tell you immediately if you do that.

It is not recommended that you practice your putting with your phone all the time because an extra weight on your putter will ruin your feel. This app is used only once a while when you want to do checkup.
